FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY BENEFITS FROM FUNDING FOR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

KAMLOOPS – The Interior Friendship Society is receiving $624,370 in provincial funding to work with urban Aboriginal families through prevention programs and services to help keep and bring families together.

“The Society is offering a variety of programs to support both parents and children in developing healthy positive relationships with each other,” says Kamloops-North Thompson MLA Terry Lake. “From pre-natal programs to youth activities, there are many services and programs to benefit families.”

“The Interior Friendship Society provides a valuable support system in our community,” says Kamloops-South Thompson MLA Kevin Krueger. “By working actively with families, they help with skill building, health and nutrition, and they ensure participants in their programs are able to fully benefit from the experience.”

“The Interior Friendship Society is very appreciative of the support provided by the province,” says Christopher Phillips, Interior Friendship society Executive Director.  “The new approach of working to improve family dynamics in high-risk cases is an effective method of keeping children out of government care.”
