Kamloops To Host 2013 B.C. Seniors Games

KAMLOOPS – The City of Kamloops has successfully won a bid to host the B.C. Seniors Games. In 2013, from August 20 – 24, Kamloops will welcome more than 3,000 seniors from across the province who will compete in 26 sporting events.      

Why This Matters:

  • The five-day event brings an estimated $2 million in economic activity to the host city.
  • The B.C. Seniors Games is a multi-sport event held by a different community each year, featuring athletes aged 55 and over.
  • The Games help promote an active lifestyle and foster community pride.

Additional Information:

  • The operational budget for the B.C. Seniors Games is approximately $300,000:
    • $85,000 is provided by the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.
    • $105,000 comes from participant registration fees.
    • $60,000 is provided by local government, while the rest is made up of contributions from local sponsors.
